Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Prime Time Performer nominees

Voting is open and will run through midnight Saturday for the next Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois in Mt. Vernon Prime Time Performer.

Here are the nominees for October 7-12:

Eli Baker, Salem: The junior scored 16 goals and added 5 assists to help the Wildcats go 3-0 for the week.

Cole Buchanan, Benton: The senior won the Benton 1A Showcase by 25 seconds with a time of 14:43.70.

AJ Craven, Benton: The senior piled up 108 yards of offense (53 rushing/55 receiving) with 3 touchdowns and recorded 9 tackles including 2 for loss and an interception on defense in the Rangers’ 62-18 win over West Frankfort.

Jace Erwin, S-V/Waltonville: The junior rush 21 times for 145 yards and scored 4 touchdowns helping the Red Devils to a 40-14 win at Eldorado.

Nolen Frost, Herin: The sophomore won medalist honors at the Chuck Ingram Invitational in Harrisburg with a time of 17:02.3, helping the Tigers win the team title as well.

Miah Gilmore, Murphysboro: The senior won medalist honors at the Benton 1A Showcase with a time of 17:11.60.

Miley Kennard, Mt. Carmel: The junior shot a 6-under 66 to wing medalist honors at the Effingham 1A Sectional. The Lady Aces won the team title by 61 strokes.

Xavier Koch, Centralia: The senior caught 9 passes for 184 yards and a touchdown in the Orphans’ 28-17 loss to Cahokia.

Kara Odum, Marion: The junior won medalist honors at both the Chuck Ingram Invitational in Harrisburg and the Centralia Orphan Invitational. Odum finished with a time of 19:44.7 to win at Harrisburg and 18:47.5.

Jashawn Staples, Mt. Vernon:  The sophomore rushed 21 times for a school record 329 yards and 4 touchdowns and added a 90-yard fumble return for a 5th touchdown in the Rams’ 42-18 win over Granite City. 

Bronson Tippett, Eldorado: The freshman shot a 73 to finish third at the ZRC 1A Sectional, earning a trip to the state tournament.
