Hargrove, Doyle lead Illinois Media All-State Teams

Southern Illinois basketball fans had the opportunity on a nightly basis to see some of the top 1A and 2A talent in the state. The area is well represented on the Illinois Media All-State Teams including the two leading vote getters.

Christopher’s Amiah Hargrove (22)

Christopher senior Amiah Hargrove was tops in the 1A list. Hargrove was joined on the first team by Okawville senior Alayna Kraus, Altamont senior Grace Nelson, Galena junior Gracie Furlong, and Biggsville West Central senior Shelby Bowman.

Goreville senior Abby Compton was a second team pick, with Woodlawn senior Jase Burkett and Edwards County sophomore Grace Bishop were named honorable mention.

Carterville’s Amayah Doyle (42) 

In 2A, Carterville senior Amayah Doyle was the top vote getter. Doyle is joined on the first team by Peoria Notre Dame senior Mya Wardle, Stillman Valley junior Taylor Davidson, Peotone senior Madi Schroeder, Breese Mater Dei junior Alyssa Koerkenmeier, and Morrison junior Camryn Veltrop.

Nashville sophomore Emma Behrmann was a second team pick, with Vienna junior Ayva Rush, Carlyle junior Sophia Hoffmann, Breese Central sophomore Taylor Trame, Massac County senior Brooklyn Burnett, Mt. Carmel sophomore Maycee Randall, Johnston City senior Carsyn Clark, Carlyle senior Emma Meyer, and Du Quoin senior Kallie Oestreicher were named honorable mention.

The Illinois Media Class 1A-2A All-State girls’ basketball teams were voted on by a statewide panel of newspaperwriters/editors, TV/radio broadcasters, and internet-site operators. There were a total of 27 voters (each voting in both classes).

MOLINE –- Here are the Illinois Media Class 1A-2A All-State girls’
basketball teams as voted on by a statewide panel of newspaper
writers/editors, TV/radio broadcasters, and internet-site operators. All
media members covering high school basketball in the state were eligible
to nominate and vote for players. Compiled by Quad Cities media veteran
Steve Tappa (currently of MC22-TV and QCSportsNet). Players received
five points for a first-team vote and three points for a second-team vote. A
five-player first team and five-player second team were selected in each
class based on voting totals. A player must have been named on two
ballots to receive honorable mention. All selections listed in order of voting
points. There were a total of 27 voters (each voting in both classes).
*-Tied for the final spot on a five-player team; **-NOTE: None were
unanimous (named on every ballot). Hargrove came closest in 1A (left off
only one ballot).
