WALTONVILLE — A week after fellow sophomore Kyle Cooper surpassed 1000 career points, Gage Peterson also reached the milestone, helping the Waltonville Spartans to a 62-43 win over visiting Sesser-Valier.

The Spartans led by six, 15-9, after one quarter, and doubled their advantage to 27-15 by halftime. With his club leading 33-19 in the third quarter, Peterson took a pass on the block and hit a turnaround jumper to reach the 1000 point milestone. Waltonville (19-6) extended its lead to 46-25 after three quarters before coasting to the 19-point win.

Cooper, who scored his 1000th point last Tuesday in a win over Patoka/Odin, led all scorers with 24 points. Peterson finished the night with 19.

Wyatt Loucks led Sesser-Valier (8-17) with 15 points.
