VIENNA — In an atmosphere that felt much more like late February or early March as opposed to the first week of the season, the Massac County Patriots held off the host Eagles to win the Vienna Classic 72-67.

Massac County senior Will Harmon’s fadeaway, buzzer-beating three-pointer from the corner gave the Patriots a 37-33 lead at the half. Harmon added two more threes early in the third helping Massac County build a 10-point lead.

The Eagles cut the deficit in half to 53-48 by the end of the third, and eventually took one-point leads twice in the fourth, but the Patriots responded  with a 10-2 run and held on for the win.

Harmon led Massac County with 19 points. Hunter Box and 17 and Isaac Hosman 13. Hosman was named Tournament MVP for the third straight year.

Vienna’s Owen Treat led all scorers with 20. Dayton Nichols added 15 and Buddy Clay 10 for the Eagles.

Hosman, Harmon, Treat, and Clay along with Meridian’s Cole Kaufman and Eldorado’s Boston Bradley were named to the All-Tournament Team.
