Phillips’ performance pairs perfectly with power from Bennett and McCalla for Carterville win

CARTERVILLE — Carterville junior pitcher Caidence Phillips continued her stellar season tossing a 5-inning perfect game, striking out 13 of the 15 batters she faced to help the Lady Lions to a 10-0 win over visiting Massac County.

Senior Kendall McCalla hit a 3-run home run and drove in four with Phillips’ batterymate, Colbie Bennett, adding a pair of hits including a solo homer to lead the Lady Lions’ offensive attack.

With the win, Carterville improves to 18-2, 7-0 in the SIRR Ohio, while Massac County falls to 4-11, 1-5 in the conference.
