NASHVILLE – A matchup of SIRR Mississippi unbeatens felt more like a postseason battle as Nashville outlasted Du Quoin 2-1 in 10 innings.

Both starting pitchers were fantastic. Hornets starter Kamden Emrick gave up a run on four hits in seven innings of work, while Indians’ starter Dedrick Melvin allowed a run on five hits in 8 2/3 innings before having to exit due to pitch count.

Each team scratched across a run early–Du Quoin in the second and Nashville in the third, then a bunch of zeroes went up on the board. Both teams had opportunities, but it wasn’t until Nashville loaded the bases with two outs in the tenth, and Samuel Kollbaum delivered a solid single to center, scoring Tyse Reinburg with the game winner.

The Hornets improve to 13-0, 5-0 in the conference. The Indians fall to 9-9, 4-1 in the conference.
