Crab Orchard wins early-season GEC showdown against Galatia/Thompsonville

GALATIA — Jada Burnett-Hatton struck out eight over six innings in the circle and had three hits including a home run and drove in a pair to help Crab Orchard remain unbeaten with a 6-3 win at fellow Greater Egyptian Conference contender Galatia/Thompsonville.

The Lady Trojans jumped on top with three runs in the top of the first only to watch the Lady Cats tie it up with three runs in the bottom of the first. Crab Orchard regained the lead with a run in the second, and it remained 4-3 until the Lady Trojans tallied two in the top of the seventh on RBI hits from Lexi Odle and Kayden Glover. Glover had three hits on the day.

Kyra Blades led the Galatia/Thompsonville attack going 2-4 with a double and driving in a pair.

The Lady Trojans improve to 11-0 (2-0). They are scheduled to visit Pope County next, Thursday at 4:30–weather permitting.

The Lady Cats fall to 4-2 (0-1) on the season. Their next scheduled game is also a visit Pope County, Monday at 4:30.
