Sadler wraps up career with third state medal

BLOOMINGTON — Anna-Jonesboro senior Zoee Sadler wrapped up her fantastic high school wrestling career by bringing home her third straight medal from the Girls State Wrestling Tournament. Sadler finished fourth in the 105 pound weight division to go along with second and fourth place medals from her last two trips to state.

Sadler dropped her opening match Friday then came back to win a pair of matches in the wrestlebacks. She then won two more matches Saturday to advance to the third place match where she dropped a 6-1 decision to Kameyah Young from West Aurora.

Sadler, who finished 46-12 for the season, was the lone wrestler from the immediate area to advance to day two. West Frankfort teammates Nikolette Ronketto (100) and Sophia Bechelli (120), Carbondale’s Delaney Measimer (115), and Goreville’s Krista McBride (190) all lost both of their matches on Friday.
