CARTERVILLE — Kansas Craig and Jayda Shepard combined for 27 points to lead Anna-Jonesboro past Carterville 39-33 in the quarterfinals of the Vienna 2A Regional.
Craig beat the halftime buzzer with a bucket in close to give A-J a 16-14 lead at the half. She then scored the first basket of the third off an offensive rebound to give the Lady Wildcats an 18-14 lead.
Carterville answered with 8 straight to grab a 22-18 lead, but then Craig countered with back to back three-point plays to put the Lady Wildcats back on top to stay. Craig finished with 14 points with Shepard adding 13, including clutch free throws down the stretch.
Maya Toliver led the Lady Lions with 14 points.
The Lady Wildcats improve to 11-20 and advance to face the top-seeded host Lady Eagles Monday night at 6:00. Carterville finishes the season 10-20.
