PINCKNEYVILLE — The Nashville Hornets picked up a huge 70-62 road win at Pinckneyville, creating a three-way tie atop the SIRR Mississippi standings. The Hornets and Panthers along with Benton are all 5-1 in the conference.
Nashville built an 18-10 lead after one, and still led by eight at the half, 30-22. The Hornets extended that lead to 48-38 after three quarters and never let the Panthers get closer than five down the stretch, holding on for the eight-point win.
Maddox Ritzel led the way for Nashville (16-8) with 17 points. Ty Schoenherr added 16 with Parker Schoenberg tallying 15 points to go along with 16 rebounds and five blocked shots.
AJ Keith led three in double figures for Pinckneyville (22-3) with a game high 25. Riley Bauersachs added 14 and Ty Laur 12.
Both teams will be on the road Friday night–Nashville will visit West Frankfort while Pinckneyville will be at Du Quoin.
