HERRIN — The Herrin and Carterville boys basketball teams have gotten real familiar with each other this season, with the Tigers taking signicantly more enjoyment out of the meetings.
In addition to the two scheduled SIRR Ohio games, the Tigers and Lions also met in the championship game of the Eldorado Holiday Tournament as well as the third place game last week at the Benton Invitational.
Herrin ended up winning all four matchups between the Williamson County rivals this season, including 45-32 Friday night at Herrin in the Tigers’ Pink Out game behind 25 points from senior Kyrese Lukens.
Herrin improves to 19-4 on the season, 5-0 in the conference. Carterville falls to 10-11, 0-4 in the conference.
The Tigers will visit another Williamson County rival Saturday night when they will travel to Marion. The Lions will host Benton. The school is hosting an Orange Out game, with proceeds raised going to teacher/assistant coach Eli Gunter who is battling Leukemia.
