ELDORADO — Eldorado hosts the Lady Eagle Winter Classic, but it’s the Lady Eagles from Vienna who have made themselves right at home in recent years, earning their second straight LEWC championship with a 63-56 win over Harrisburg.
Vienna broke open a close game with a 21-2 run that spanned the end of the first half and the start of the third quarter. That run turned a 29-27 lead into a 50-29 advantage.
Harrisburg made it interesting late, getting as close as five in the final minute, but the Lady Eagles hit their free throws to seal the championship.
Both teams were missing key contributors–Jenna Waters for Vienna and Hannah Rorer for Harrisburg. Iris Mount had a huge game in Waters’ absence leading all scorers with 21. Suhmer Daubert added 14 for Vienna.
Koral Hathaway led the Lady Bulldogs with 15 with Jamisen Green adding 13.
Vienna senior Ayva Rush was named Tournament MVP.
