WEST FRANKFORT — Crab Orchard doesn’t get many opportunities to tangle with River to River Schools, so the Trojans knew they had to make the most of their opportunity.
And that they did, knocking off the host Redbirds 68-55 to win the West Frankfort Midwinter Classic.
The Trojans led 16-13 after one quarter and extended that lead to 33-26 by halftime. Crab Orchard then blew it open in the third, leading by as many as 19 in the third quarter before settling for the 13-point win.
Tournament MVP Carter Watts led the way for the Trojans with 24 points. Cameron Dawes (14), Cameron Clark (11) and Rylan Brotherton (10) also reached double figures for Crab Orchard.
Quentin Osburn led the Redbirds with 18 points. Eli Tyson added 14 and Jack Harrell 11.
