Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Prime Time Performer nominees

Voting is open and will run through midnight Sunday for the next Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois in Mt. Vernon Prime Time Performer.

Here are the nominees for January 13-18:

Riley Bauersachs, Pinckneyville: The senior scored 44 points to help lead the Panthers to a 2-0 week, including a 33-point night in a win over Herrin.

Mitchel Edwards, Carmi-White Co.: The senior scored 68 points to help lead the Bulldogs to a 1-1 week. Edwards tallied 30 points and 13 rebounds in a win over Edwards County and then scored 38 in a loss to Fairfield.

Brody Elliott, Mt. Vernon: The junior earned medalist honors at the Salem Boys Bowling Regional knocking down 1376 pins (229 avg). The Rams finished second as a team to advance to the sectional.

Javan Garrett, NCOE: The junior scored 61 points, handed out 15 assists, and recorded 9 steals to help lead the Fighting Cardinals to a 3-0 week. Garrett tallied 24 in a win over Grayville and 22 in a win over Carrier Mills/Stonefort.

Caleb Gore, Harrisburg: The junior earned medalist honors at the Herrin Boys Bowling Regional knocking down 1467 pins (244/game avg) helping the Bulldogs win the team title and advance to the sectional as well.

Essence Haynes, Du Quoin: The sophomore scored 88 points to help lead the Lady Indians to a 3-1 week. Haynes tallied 28 in a win over Christopher and 27 in a win over Trico.

Shameria Joshua-Ayers, Murphysboro: The sophomore 77 points to help the Red Devils to a 2-1 week, including a school record 42 points in a win over Meridian.

Damian Lanton, Sparta: The senior was named MVP of the Chester Invitational after scoring 63 points, grabbing 14 rebounds, dishing out 15 assists, and recording 6 steals over 5 games to help lead the Bulldogs to the championship.

Nathaniel Marlow, Webber: The junior scored 117 points to help lead the Trojans to a 3-0 week. Marlow tallied 46 in the win over Johnston City, 34 in the win over Sandoval, and 37 in the win over Red Hill.

Sophia Skinner, Woodlawn: The sophomore was named MVP of the Midland Trail Conference Tournament after scoring 45 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and dishing out 6 assists to help the Lady Cardinals go 3-0 and win the championship. 

Ethan Simmons, Marion: The senior scored a career high 33 and grabbed 10 rebounds to help the Wildcats to a win over Cahokia.

Landon Sveda, Christopher: The junior scored 60 points to help the Bearcats go 2-1 for the week, including 23 in a win over Zeigler-Royalton and 20 in a win over Elverado.
