Hot start leads Carbondale to win over Jones (FL) at Illinois Get Down

CARBONDALE — The Carbondale Terriers jumped out to an 18-5 lead after one quarter, extended that lead to 18 early in the second quarter and cruised from there to a 48-37 win over Jones High School from Orlando, Florida in the opening night of the Illinois Get Down, a two-day shootout put on by former Terrier star Dan Cross.

Mikaden Green led a balanced attack for Carbondale with 11 points. Coryion Keene and freshman Xavier Cauthen both added ten.

The Terriers came back Saturday night and beat Craigmont High School from Memphis, Tennessee 76-38 to go 2-0 for the weekend and improve to 6-2 for the season.

Up next, Carbondale will travel to Herrin to face the 6-1 Tigers Tuesday night.
