MARION — The host Marion Wildcats broke open a close game against Richland County by outscoring the Tigers 32-11 over the game’s final two-plus quarters to post a 52-29 win in the final game of the Legence Bank Shootout.
Ethan Simmons led the way for Marion with 18 points, all coming in the first half. Simmons’ personal 9-0 run to close the first half gave Marion a 29-18 lead at halftime.
The Wildcats improve to 3-2. They will be on the road for their next two games–at Breese Mater Dei Friday night followed by a trip to Massac County Saturday night.
The Tigers fall to 3-3 and will return home Tuesday night to host unbeaten and state-ranked Mt. Zion.
