VIENNA — The senior duo of Ayva Rush and Suhmer Daubert combined for 10 3-pointers and 55 points to help lead Vienna to a season-opening 83-62 win over Marion, spoiling Erik Griffin’s debut as the Lady Wildcats head coach.
Rush tallied 22 of her game high 34 points in the first half, as the Lady Eagles bolted to a 45-24 halftime lead.
Marion cut the deficit to 12 in the third and trailed 61-47 after three, but Daubert drained seven 3-pointers, including a salvo of three in a minute span in the fourth quarter to officially put this one out of reach.
Karina Botello added 12 for Vienna, who will host West Frankfort Thursday night.
Libbie Garrett led Marion with 15. Khamari Jackson and Ny’Aajha Curry scored 12 apiece for the Lady Wildcats, who will next welcome Benton Saturday.
