FAIRFIELD — The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldogs are now one win away from a return trip to state after sweeping Newton 25-19, 25-21 to win the Fairfield Sectional championship.
The Lady Bulldogs improve to 37-2 on the season and advance to the Arthur/Lovington/Atwood/Hammond Supersectional where they will face Bloomington Central Catholic Monday night at 6:00. The winner of that match advances to the state semifinals Friday in Normal.
Newton finished the season 32-7.
