HIGHLAND – The Marion Wildcats saw their season come to a close in the first round of the 5A playoffs, falling at Highland 55-19.
The Bulldogs ran wild, piling up 529 yards of offense while scoring touchdowns on eight of their ten possessions, including their first six.
The 1-2 punch of Carter Harris and Tyson Rakers combined for 350 of those yards and seven touchdowns. Harris, who is just a freshman piled up 201 yards on 11 carries and a touchdown, while the senior Rakers tallied 149 yards on 21 carries with six touchdowns.
Callahan Roper completed 27-43 for 317 yards and a touchdown for the Wildcats. Sam Adkins was Roper’s favorite target, hauling in 10 passes for 191 yards.
The Wildcats finish their season 6-4. Highland improves to 7-3 and will be on the road in round two against the winner of Morris and Triad.
