CHESTER — The Chester Yellow Jackets’ bid for a perfect regular season came up just short Saturday, as Waterloo rallied from a 14-point first half deficit for a 35-28 win in a matchup of playoff bound teams.
Zain Al-Jassim completed 24-38 passing for 328 yards and two touchdowns for Chester. Al-Jassim added a rushing touchdown as well, and Kolton Jany collected 151 yards of offense (71 yards rushing/80 yards receiving) and two touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough.
Derez Sayles saw to that. The Bulldogs’ junior running back rushed for more than 200 yards and scored four touchdowns on runs of 30, 64, 41, and 70 yards.
Both teams finish the regular season 8-1. Chester is headed for the 2A playoffs while Waterloo is a 4A playoff team.
