HARRISBURG – The visiting Carterville Lions came to Harrisburg’s Taylor Field and felt right at home, jumping out to a 14-0 lead after one quarter and cruising to a 28-7 win.
Chance Myers tallied three rushing touchdowns for the Lions, scoring on runs of 25, 26, and 46 yards. Myers and Luke Johnson scored in the first quarter, with Myers’ second TD coming in the second quarter for a 21-0 Carterville lead at the half.
After a scoreless third quarter, Harrisburg got on the board in the fourth as Owen Rann and Aiden Unthank connected for a 23-yard touchdown to pull the Bulldogs within 21-7 with 6:42 to play.
Myers and company slammed the door three plays later with his third TD of the night to put it awy.
Carteville improves to 4-2 (2-0). The Lions will travel to Massac County next week. Harrisburg falls to 4-2 (1-1). The Bulldogs will also be on the road next week at Murphysboro.
