BRIDGEPORT — The Red Hill school board will decide Monday night whether to accept an invitation to join the Black Diamond Conference in football starting next season. Saturday, the Salukis took care of a possible future conference foe, beating CZR 39-12, in a game the Bearcats added instead of taking a forfeit and not playing because Vienna/Goreville punted a varsity schedule this year.
If approved, Red Hill would replace Vienna/Goreville and return the BDC a 10-team, closed football conference.
As for Saturday’s non-conference affair, after the Bearcats jumped out to a 6-0 lead, the Salukis rattled off 39 straight points and then settled for the 27-point victory to improve to 3-1 on the season.
The Bearcats fall to 0-4. CZR will return to conference play Friday night when unbeaten rival Sesser-Valier/Waltonville will pay a visit.
The Salukis will host Fisher Saturday afternoon at 1:00.
