METROPOLIS — The Murphysboro Red Devils scored early and often then cruising to victory in their SIRR Ohio opener, beating Massac County 56-2.
The Red Devils led 28-0 after one quarter and extended that lead to 49-0 in the second with Massac County agreeing to the running clock with nearly 5:00 left in the first half.
Tyjaire Kellum led the Murphysboro offensive explosion with 213 yards on just seven carries. Kellum scored three touchdowns on the night.
The Red Devils (3-1, 1-0) will return home next week to host Herrin. Massac County (1-3, 0-1) will hit the road next week to visit Harrisburg.
