MARION — It’s not often that a team can post a score of 289 and not win, but that was exactly the case for the Benton Rangers at the Marion Invitational. Breese Mater Dei tallied four scores 74 or better to come away with a two-shot win.
Anna-Jonesboro’s Aidan McFadden and Benton’s Kash Cantrell each carded 4-under 67s to wind up in a playoff for the individual title. McFadden parred the first hole of sudden death to earn medalist honors.
Breese Mater Dei’s Owen Musenbrock (69) and Bennett Moss (71) took third and fourth with Anna-Jonesboro’s Taj Hodges coming in 5th. Hodges also fired a 71 but lost a playoff with the Moss for fourth.
Benton’s River Stilley and Mt. Carmel’s Kollin Kelsey tied for sixth with 73s. Benton’s Sawyer Wilkerson, Mater Dei’s Owen Moss, and Eldorado’s Brandon Tippett finished in a three-way tie for eighth with 74s.
