Carterville holds off West Frankfort for Homecoming win

CARTERVILLE — Nick Bisching threw a pair of touchdown passes, and Chance Myers added a 60-yard touchdown run as Carterville built a 21-8 lead at the half then held on to beat West Frankfort 21-16 in a game that was delayed nearly two hours by bad weather.

West Frankfort cut the deficit to five heading to the fourth quarter on Travion Johnson’s second touchdown of the night. The Redbirds had a chance to win it late but saw their game-winning drive stopped in Carterville territory as time expired.

Both teams are 2-1 on the season. Both will open conference play next week–West Frankfort in the SIRR Mississippi at home against Pinckneyville and Carterville in the SIRR Ohio at Herrin.
