CENTRALIA — Sophomore Christian Alonso scored four goals and freshman Collin Loepker added two goals and two assists in high school debut to lead Centralia to a 9-0 season opening win over Carlyle in the first game played on the new turf on Evers Field.
The Orphans led 4-0 at the half, and despite playing shorthanded most of the second half following a red card, pulled away for the big win.
Caiden Taylor, Peyton Cole, and Greyson White each added goals, while goalie Cooper Harnish had five saves and a block to post the shutout.
The Orphans will hit the road Wednesday to face Anna-Jonesboro/Cobden.
