Marion eliminates Southern Illinois at Colt World Series

MARION – Marion exploded for 10 runs in the third inning and cruised to a 16-3 win in five innings to eliminate defending champion and fellow host team Southern Illinois at the Colt World Series.

Will True tallied a pair of two-run singles to highlight Marion’s massive third inning. Trevor McClure added on three hits as Marion pounded out 16 hits on the day.

Marion advances to take on Youngstown (Ohio) in another elimination game Monday morning at 11:00. The winner of that game will come back to face Monterrey (Mexico) at 5:00.

Southern Illinois finishes the tournament 0-2.
