LAKE OF EGYPT — It did not take long on water for Galatia freshman Mace Ridgeway to haul in a difference maker at the Lake of Egypt Bass Fishing Sectional. It weighed in at 5 pounds, 3.2 ounces and turned out to be the day’s big bass, setting up Ridgeway and fellow freshman Brian Gibbs for a big day.

That day ended with a five fish limit that weighed in at 16 pounds, 9.6 ounces which was nearly three pounds clear of the rest of the field to earn a sectional championship and a trip to the state finals at Carlyle Lake May 17-18.

Vienna’s team of Cole Sampson and Lake Trovillion are state bound after catching five fish that weighed in at 13 pounds, 11 ounces for second place. Marion’s Samual Arnold and Rylan Williamson also earned a trip to state finishing third with 13 pounds, 2.6 ounces.

Pope County’s Braden Taylor and Drake Taylor finished fourth with 12 pounds, 8 ounces. They will be an alternate team.
