The First Southern Bank Cup is an award given to the school district in the River Radio Sports Central coverage area that displayed the highest level of overall excellence in all sports for the entire school year. As we close in on postseason for spring sports and the end of the high school year, the battle for the inaugural First Southern Bank Cup is in full swing!
The First Southern Bank Cup points system awards points to schools for team and individual success. A total of 42 out of more than 50 schools in our coverage area have gotten on the board so far.
Benton currently sits atop the standings with 49 points. Marion is second with 35, followed by Carbondale (27), Nashville (27), and Murphysboro (24) in the top five. Anna-Jonesboro (22), Massac County (22), Salem (21), Fairfield (20), and Herrin (19) round out the top 10.
The winning school will receive a trophy and $5,000 for its athletic program.
