CARBONDALE — Freshman Sara Schurz scored three of her four goals on the day and added an assist as the Carbondale Terriers exploded for six second half goals to beat Sikeston (MO) 7-0 at the Fralish Cup Showcase.
Schurz scored the only goal in the first half, then after the Terriers missed out on multiple scoring opportunities early in the second half, she set up Jordan Grubbs for a 2-0 lead.
Peytyn Hickey scored off a Norah Pease’s corner kick for a 3-0 lead. Schurz then scored three of the final four goals with another freshman, Leah Lipe, also finding the net.
The Terriers improve to 6-3-1 and will return to South Seven Conference play Wednesday with a trip to Mt. Vernon before returning home Friday to meet Marion.
