GOREVILLE — The Vienna Lady Eagles picked up an unscheduled, unofficial Black Diamond West road win, by downing Goreville 2-1. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Vienna, but was moved due to wet fields.

Rayonna Ridley’s RBI double in the bottom of the third provided the game’s first run. Ridley later scored on an error for a 2-0 Lady Eagles’ lead.

Vienna starter Emmy Vinson lost her bid for a shutout in the seventh when a couple of errors and a hit led to a Goreville run, but with the tying and winning runs in scoring position, Vinson got Breanna Suits to ground out to Ayva Rush to end the game.

Vinson allowed one unearned run on five hits for the complete game victory. Goreville pitcher Marley Parrish also only gave up five hits to take the tough luck loss.

Both teams are 1-1 in conference play.
