MARION — Marion senior Jack Harre struck out 10 over five dominant innings, and the Wildcats’ offense exploded for eight runs in the fifth to beat Carterville 11-1.
Aiden Pickles, Brady Jackson, and Ethan Stout with Jackson and Will True each driving in a pair for the Wildcats. True scored twice, including stealing home in the first inning.
Payton Van Horn collected the Lions’ only hit, an RBI single in the fourth that tied the game 1-1.
True then untied it with a two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the fourth before Marion’s big inning to close it out.
The Wildcats improve to 3-0 on the season while the Lions fall to 2-2.
