ELKVILLE — The Goreville Lady Blackcats are into the 1A Elite Eight once again, after taking care of Edwards County 64-43 to win the Elverado 1A Sectional championship. This will be Goreville’s second trip to the supersectional in three years and seventh in the past 13 postseasons.

Goreville led 13-10 after one quarter and extended that lead to 32-24 by halftime. After extending the lead to 11 after three quarters, Goreville put it away with a 21-11 fourth quarter effort resulting in the 21-point win.

Kyndall Webb hit four 3-pointers and finished with 22 points to lead the Goreville attack. Breanna Suits added 16 and Abby Compton 15.

Grace Bishop also scored 22 to lead Edwards County. Alexia McKinney tallied 12.

Goreville (32-3) advances to the Okawville Supersectional Monday night at 7:00, where they will face the defending state champion and host Lady Rockets. Okawville beat Father McGivney 41-29 to win the Nokomis Sectional.

Edwards County finished its season 21-10.
