CARTERVILLE — The Carterville Lions won their eighth straight game, beating Johnston City 70-34 in the quarterfinals of the West Frankfort 2A Regional.
Kaden Wilson led the way for Carterville with 16 points, while Drew Barrington added 11. AJ Butler led Johnston City with 16.
Th fifth-seeded Lions advance to the semifinals where they will face fourth-seeded Murphysboro Wednesday night at 7:30. Top-seeded Benton will face ninth-seeded Hamilton County to open the action Wednesday at 6:00.
The Lions just beat the Red Devils 49-40 in Carterville last Thursday night to clinch the SIRR Ohio championship and close the regular season.
