MOUNDS — Javionne Ranson and AJ Flenoid Jr. scored 18 points apiece to help lead Meridian past Hardin County 84-56 in what could a regional final preview.
Earlier in the day when the IHSA released the postseason seeds, the Bobcats were the number two seed in the 1A subsectional with the Cougars the three, meaning the two teams would likely end up in the same regional, a regional Hardin County will host. When the pairings were released Friday afternoon, this was indeed the case.
Meridian led 19-12 after one quarter and led by as many as 19 in the second quarter, but Hardin County closed the half on a 7-0 run to make it 39-27 at the break.
After the Cougars scored the first basket of the third quarter, the Bobcats ripped off 13 straight and did not let Hardin County get closer than 13 the rest of the way.
Meridian improves to 20-8 on the season, while Hardin County falls to 14-11.
