CARTERVILLE — Josh Waller hit a pair of free throws with :32 left in overtime to give the Carterville Lions a 39-37 non-conference win over visiting Carbondale.
The Lions led 35-26 after three quarters, but the Terriers came storming back, outscoring Carterville 11-2 in the fourth quarter to force overtime.
Carterville held the ball for nearly 3:30 to start overtime before Waller’s free throws. The Terriers had a chance at the end, but Decarl Payne was unable to connect.
With the win, the Lions improve to 13-11. The Terriers fall to 11-16.
