SPARTA — Kaden Shields and AJ Boese combined for 22 to help the Murphysboro Red Devils earn a spot in the Sparta Mid-Winter Classic championship game with a 45-42 win over the host Bulldogs.
Murphysboro will face Freeburg in the championship game at 5:30 Saturday. Freeburg advanced to the title game due to free throw percentage after tying with Red Bud and Waterloo in pool play.
Red Bud will face Sparta for third with Waterloo taking on Steeleville for fifth.
