ELDORADO — The Herrin Tigers made it three straight Eldorado Holiday Tournament championships, beating Massac County for the third straight time in the title tilt, 56-51 to capture the 59th EHT championship.
Trailing 16-11 in the second quarter, the Tigers used a 15-0 run to take control.
Herrin led 26-19 at the half. That lead grew to as many as 17 points in the third quarter before the Patriots scored the final four in the quarter to cut it to 41-28 after three.
Massac County made it interesting late getting as close as three with 1:13 to play, but the Tigers were able to hit enough free throws to close it out.
Tournament MVP Kyrese Lukens led Herrin (10-4) with 23 points. Exavier Williams added 16. Will Harmon led Massac County (10-5) with 18 with Isaac Hosman adding 12.
