ELDORADO — The boys basketball game scheduled for Tuesday night between Mt. Carmel and Eldorado has been canceled as Eldorado Unit #4 has scheduled a special board meeting for that night.  Agenda items include “Considering suspending and/or terminating the at will employment of athletic coaches” and “Consider appointing interim athletic coaches.”

The meeting comes on the heels of an incident during Thursday’s Consolation Championship game at the 59th Eldorado Holiday Tournament. In the third quarter of the game between the host Eagles and rival Hamilton County, an Eldorado player elbowed a Foxes player in the face. No foul was called on the play, but the Hamilton County player stumbled to the floor multiple times and had to be helped to the sidelines requiring medical attention. The incident can be viewed here from the WRUL Sports video stream.

Following an uproar on social media over the incident, the school released a statement saying the “administration is conducting a thorough investigation in collaboration with officials from both schools. Eldorado CUSD 4 will not tolerate the unsportsmanlike behavior displayed during Thursday’s game, and the student involved will face appropriate consequences.”

Eldorado’s special board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday night at 7:00. Public comments are also on the agenda.
