SESSER — Kyle Cooper poured in 24 points and Gage Peterson added 16 to help lead Waltonville past Red Bud 59-44, sending the Spartans to the championship game of the 42nd Sesser-Valier Holiday Tournament.
Waltonville (11-0) jumped out to a 13-2 lead and still maintained that lead for much of the first half, taking a 27-17 lead into halftime.
The Musketeers closed the deficit to three late in the third, but Cooper hit a step-back three in the final seconds of the quarter to extend the lead back six.
The unbeaten Spartans will face top seeded Goreville at 7:00 Thursday night for the title. The Blackcats took care of Altamont 67-50.
