MARION — Thanks to a dominant defensive performance, the Centralia Orphans remained unbeaten with a convincing 58-28 win at Marion in a South Seven first place showdown.
Centralia (10-0, 3-0) led 19-11 after one quarter then outscored Marion 14-2 in the second quarter to lead 33-13 at the half. The Orphans extended the lead to 24 after three quarters, then held the Wildcats to another two-point quarter in the fourth.
Centralia senior Cruz Harlan led all scorers with 19 points. Derek Meier added 11. Marion (6-2, 1-1) was led by Ethan Simmons who finished with eight.
