Carterville takes battle of unbeatens

CARTERVILLE — The Carterville Lady Lions used a balanced attack and pulled away in the second half to beat Harrisburg 54-35 in a matchup of early season unbeatens.

Carterville led by 12 in the second quarter only to watch Harrisburg close within 26-21 at the half. The Lady Lions then outscored the Lady Bulldogs 28 14 in the second half to pull away for the 19-point win.

Amayah Doyle led four in double figures with 17 points for Carterville. Hillary Siemer added 14, Khamari Jackson 11 and Caidence Phillips 10 for the Lady Lions. Kinzleigh Smothers was the lone Lady Bulldog to reach double figures, finishing with 10 points.

Carterville improves to 10-0, 2-0 in the SIRR Ohio. Harrisburg falls to 10-1, 0-1 in the Ohio.
