BLUFORD — The Webber Trojans used a big first half then needed a defensive stand late to hand Hamilton County its first loss of the season, 56-53 in non-conference action Tuesday night.

Webber (5-1) led 16-7 after one quarter and extended that lead to double digits early in the second quarter, eventually taking a 27-14 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Foxes rallied in the second half and took their only lead of the night at 48-47. After Webber regained the lead, Hamilton County (6-1) tied the game with 40 seconds to play on Kord Lueke’s three-pointer.

The Trojans regained the lead with three free throws and picked up the win as the Foxes missed a game-tying free throw in the final seconds.

Dylan French led Webber with 17 points. Nikkos Ulm added 16 and Nathaniel Marlow 11.

Hamilton County’s Eli Hanson led all scorers with 18. Lueke added 12 and Andrew Webb 10.
