MCLEANSBORO — Gallatin County, West Frankfort and Hamilton County all picked up wins on night two of the Foxes Invite, with the Redbirds and Foxes improving to 2-0 in the tourney.
The Hawks built a 23-point lead over Wayne City, then had to hold for a 62-59 win. Grant Jackson led four in double figures for Gallatin County with 18 points. Noah Richardson added 15 with Lucas Jackson and Collin Monroe each contributing 11. Wayne City’s Tanner McNeil led all scorers with 24.
West Frankfort jumped out to a 9-0 lead and led NCOE 24-8 at the half before cruising to a 47-32 win. Brady Melvin led the Redbirds with 12 points. Eli Tyson added 10. NCOE’s Jaxon Simmons led all scorers with 15.
In the nightcap, the host Foxes used a 15-0 run spanning the end of the first quarter through the start of the second quarter to build a 24-6 lead, eventually holding on for a 56-47 win over Edwards County. Lions’ senior Anjuan Rhodes led all scorers with 24, while Abe Neal led the Foxes with 22.
