HERRIN — Carterville senior Amayah Doyle recently signed with the University of Tennessee to play softball. She’s pretty good at basketball too.
Doyle poured in 35 points to lead the Lady Lions to a 65-50 win over the hosts at the Herrin Lady Tigers Basketball Invite. Both teams came into the game unbeaten in the tourney as well as the season.
Doyle scored 33 of her 35 in the first three quarters. Carterville built a 37-24 lead at the half and outscored Herrin 22-12 in third to lead 59-36 heading to the fourth.
In other action from day 4 of the tournament, Johnston City held off Carbondale 40-38, and Benton used a huge second half to beat Cairo 67-36.
