HARRISBURG — Anna-Jonesboro and Harrisburg both remained unbeaten at the Harrisburg Girls Preview Tournament with wins Wednesday night.
The Lady Wildcats used a balanced attack to down West Frankfort 52-40 in the opener. Savannah Smith led A-J with 13 points. Gamieka Harris added 11 and Eden Lee 10. Bailey Neibch led West Frankfort with 12.
Harrisburg won the battle of the Lady Bulldogs, using a 14-4 third quarter explosion to break open a close game and lead the way to a 46-36 win over Carmi-White County. Kinzleigh Smothers led Harrisburg with a game high 14 points, with Jamisen Green added 11. Mara Serafini led Carmi-White County with 13.
Anna-Jonesboro and Harrisburg will square off in the second game Friday night. That game is scheduled for 7:30, following West Frankfort and Eldorado. Carmi-White County has the night off. The tournament will wrap up with two games Saturday (6:00/7:30) as Carmi-White County will take on Anna-Jonesboro in the opener followed by Harrisburg and Eldorado.
