NORMAL — Some early jitters and an extremely talented opponent was a bad combination for the Carmi-White County Lady Bulldogs in their first State Volleyball appearance. IC Catholic scored 16 of the first 19 points in the opening game on the way to a 25-5, 25-16 semifinal win.
The Lady Bulldogs settled in and battled in game two. IC Catholic (36-3) built a 17-10 lead, but the Carmi scored five straight points to pull within 17-15, but that’s as close as CWC could get.
The Lady Knights advance to the 2A State Championship match against Breese Mater Dei (32-6), who beat Rock Falls 25-20, 25-22. Carmi-White County (33-8) will face Rock Falls (34-7) for third place at approximately 12:25 Saturday.
