FAIRFIELD — Freshman quarterback Jaylen Maners threw four touchdowns with senior Jay Snyder catching one of those and running in two more scores, helping Fairfield become playoff eligible with a 52-7 win over Edwards County in a rare Thursday night affair.

The Mules built a 28-0 lead at the half, but the Lions opened the third with a 16-play, 74-yard drive that ate up 7:04 off the clock.

Fairfield scored a touchdown in the third and two more in the fourth to put it away.

Through five weeks, the Mules were 1-4 but have reeled off four straight wins to be in a position to hear their name called when the pairings are announced Saturday night.

The Lions finish the season 2-7.
