WEST FRANKFORT — The Mt. Carmel Lady Aces began their quest for a third straight Girls 1A State Golf championship with an impressive performance to win the West Frankfort Regional.
Mt. Carmel put four in the top 5 including medalist Zeme Moore who carded a 2-under 69. The Lady Aces finished with a 3-over 287 team score to win their fourth straight regional title by 31 strokes.
Massac County placed four in the top 11 to finish second as a team. Harrisburg was the third team to qualify for Monday’s Taylorville Sectional.
Ten individuals also advanced to the sectional. They are Josie Welch, Johnston City (82), Ava Shiever, Carmi-White Co. (89), Lauren Lowery, WSV (93), Hannah Rojas, Vienna (94), Mackenzie Burke, Hamilton Co. (97), Allee Ragan, Hamilton Co. (98), Aubree Williford, Johnston City (98), Sam Coomer, Fairfield (98), Addison Harris, Goreville (99), and Courtney Snow, Carmi-White Co. (99).
